Pulpwood flats

I have a pile of Walthers pulpwood flatcars that have horrible molded on details.  I have been running them, against my "no molded on details" rules, because no one else makes a car close to the BAR's pulpwood flats.  I have started to remove these molded on details and replace them with separately applied ladders, stirrups, and grabs.

Just 8 more to go!

Weathering

Spent some more time at the bench experimenting with weathering by mixing matte medium with powders.

I am pretty happy with the boxcar, but this hopper I worked on kinda looks like someone just threw mudballs at it...

Back at the bench

My work bench is set back up now and I have been spending some time there this week.  I pulled a few things out and worked on some weathering.

I put some more time into #46.  Got the decals on, but still need to get window glazing in, the bell, and a few roof details.

Wood chip hoppers

I finished up the woodchip hoppers that I have been working on this week.

And the N scale conversion I did for the collection.

Bench projects

The work on the building where the layout will live progresses.  It's gotten to the point where I have moved the On30 module and my workbench in and set them up.  Being back at the bench has let me just back into a few in-progress projects.

Another of my HO wood chip car conversion that I had just started when the bench got packed up.  This one started as a 3 bay coal hopper.

I had decided that since I had done 7 wood chip conversions so far in HO, that I would do a few for my N scale equipment.

I started with a Micro Trains boxcar.  It was much more delicate than what I am used to, almost brittle.  While cutting the roof off, the car basically shattered.  Some reinforcement and careful glue work and its back together and I think is going to come out alright.

Scenery progress

Here are a few snaps I took of my recent scenery work on the On30 module.
