A few pictures of an On30 Shay

Here are a few in progress pics of the On30 Shay that I am detailing.  It has Tsunami sound, a current keeper, and has been re-geared with metal gears from North West Short Line.  It's an incredibly smooth runner.  Just need to finish the weathering.

update

I seem to be growing less interested in the HO modules everyday.  I don't know if the winter scenery experiment is the culprit, or if I am just really missing operating 600 square feet instead of just 14.  Tinkering with On30 has been the only bright spot lately and I have done some work this weekend on it.  I worked on some details for a toolbox to go on the On30 Shay.

The toolbox is just a quick scratch build to hold the tools on one of the running boards on the Shay.

I think it looks good up there.  The crew will have all the tools they need to deal with any problem that might come up.  Now, to finish the weathering on the locomotive itself.

On30 rolling stock

One of my side interests in the hobby is On30.  I have been pondering how to use some of the space for the new layout to have a small area for an On30 layout.  Im not sure if its the weather or if I just haven't been feeling it but, I haven't wanted to work on HO scale stuff lately.  I spent a bit of time adding my lettering for my fictional company, the North Atkinson Paper company, to my small collection of On30 rolling stock.  Hopefully spring will come soon and I will feel like being in the layout room more.  I am anxious to get the renovations done so I can build again, but it's just too cold.  Anyway, here are a few pictures of that On30 rolling stock.

A few more pictures

Most of my free time has been spent on tearing out the big layout.

Since I took the above picture, all the backdrop is down and about 1/3 of the benchwork has been removed.  The wall in the picture will be removed and the layout expanded into the next room, so at least, there is some benefit to having to tear it down.

I finished up the regulator assembly that I have been working on.

I added a light to this pump house.

A couple of bench projects and scenery progress

I have spent little time at the bench lately but, have worked on a few projects.  I am working on a downstream voltage regulator.  Just need a few wires to finish it up.

Adding some details to the wooden stake bed that I put on this propane company truck.

And a few shots of snow scenery in progress.

Progress pictures

I know I haven't posted much lately, but pictures of a layout being torn down don't make for good content in my opinion.  Here are a few pics of scenery progress on the modules that I am using to keep me busy until the renovation is finished.

Locomotives that the BAR never had

I have been working on putting a few locomotives that I really like, but that the BAR never owned, into BAR colors.  The first one is this Athearn SW1500.  It has tsunami sound and a current keeper.
